About Me

I'm Earnest English beginning my third year on the tenure track in Snowy Village, a place I've come to love for all the farms (even organic) close by. I'm also the mom of an active almost-three year old, Absurdist Tot (AT), and the girlfriend of Absurdist Lover (AL), my long lost boyfriend. I'm also a writer, activist, family (organic) cook, sometime bread baker, and sometime crocheter. AL and I are determined to figure out how to get into the farm of our dreams so we can become more self-sufficient homesteaders. I'm passionately committed to whole organic food that comes, as often as possible, from local family farms and to living a slower-paced, less gadgety, more contemplative life than usually seems possible in this high-tech speedy and spendy world of ours. Next Steps for Writing Projects 2011-2012

It occurred to me one night as I was self-involvedly reading my old dissertation blogs that I'm focusing too much on the product when writing, rather than just thinking of my writing projects in terms of their next steps. Worrying about tenure expectations seems to only exacerbate this. I realized that each article, like a poem or essay, is an experience, a walking-with ideas for a series of months or even years. That's my process -- and I like it that way. When I read a poem of mine, I can see the history and progress of my thinking. So I'm going to keep track of my next steps here.

1. Article for Collection Slightly Outside My Field: Massive rewrite needed by August 31 or so.

2. Invited article for collection: Need to contact a key resource, do some research, and make massive notes. In short, full steam ahead on research here.

3. Much Needed Article for Fave Journal: Backburner until first two are done. Probably will get back to this around the first of the year 2012.
